Letter from Real Phonic

Happy Holidays everyone ... 2012 is nearly upon us and there are some great things happening
between now and then.  Including, .... The Erik Koskinen Band will be doing a show at the Oak
Center General Store at 8 p.m. on December 23rd with Molly Maher starting out the show.  You can
Check it out here. http://www.oakcentergeneralstore.com/music.tab.html

Then to go around the circle a little.  Erik and his Band will be playing New Year’s Eve at the Triple Rock Social Club
starting at nine opening for Four On The Floor .... That’s Dec 31st @ 9pm/w 4ontf .. for all the texters.?

2011 has been an exciting year, yet the excitement started one year ago today.  Erik Koskinen’s
Suburban and Gear were stolen (hopefully they’re getting good use of it all), which struck up a show called
the Real Phonic Revival show and thanks to Trampled By Turtles, Dead Man Winter, The Jahskinens, Charle
Parr, Molly Maher, Ashleigh Still, Thom Middlebrook and The Greatest Rock n Roll Club in the World (First Ave).
The show helped Erik out stupendously.  2011 saw Molly Maher get a clean bill of health and a great new
album called “Merry Come Up”.  We saw Erik playing guitar with Lucinda, doing some tours with Randy
Weeks, and we heard he drove the van and equipment for his tour with Dead Man Winter to Alaska
and back. HUH? Amongst other albums recorded at Real Phonic studios were Dead Man Winter’s “Bright Lights”,
Sarah Krueger’s new LP titled “Dancing with Phantoms”.  I heard through the Grapevine of an ARIA
(Australian Grammy) Nomination for The Waifs Record “Temptation”.........  In November we saw the
start of the new series called The Real Phonic Radio Hour featuring Ashleigh Still and Bo Ramsey (We
heard from a little bird that Joe Ely will be here in January for the show).  November also saw the end
of an era down at Nye’s Polonaise Room.  It was a great five and a half year tenure for Erik, Molly, Paul
and the Band, but all things must pass.

So .... 2012 ?!!?! Erik and Molly will start a new tenure at The Aster Cafe starting Wednesday January 4th at 9pm.
Also, The Real Phonic Radio Hour N.#2 will be on Thursday January 19th at the James J. Hill Library in Downtown
Saint Paul.  Check it ... http://realphonic.com/
We also heard from another little bird that Erik Koskinen and his Band will release in some form, a live session that
was recorded in the compound known as the Real Phonic Studio, this spring.

Thanks everyone ... wishing you a superb 2012 and a somewhat white Christmas from
all of us at Real Phonic Records.

Keep it To Yourself

Keep it To Yourself

RealPhonic, 2010

“Best known as an ace guitarist (for Molly Maher, Randy Weeks) and a producer/engineer (Trampled by Turtles), Erik Koskinen should also be recognized as a masterful songwriter and rousing country singer with the release of his solo album, “Keep It to Yourself,” which he’s promoting Friday at Lee’s Liquor Lounge with Maher and Dave Simonett’s Dead Man Winter. The Upper Peninsula native comes off like a twangier Greg Brown or a moodier John Hiatt in down-and-out gems such as “Treat Me So Bad,” several rambling rockers and one downright horny gem, “Pretty Girls.” ...

— Chris Riemenschneider - Star Tribune

Mandan Hayseed

Mandan Hayseed

self-released, 2004

“Mandan Hayseed is Erik’s finest work since the record he released before this one. His dulcet tone and demeanor rival those of lesser artists like Sting and Bon Jovi.”

— Richard Medek
